The converter from Pelikan turns a cartridge filler into a piston filler and enables fountain pens to be filled from the ink bottle. The converter is built into the fountain pen like a cartridge. The fountain pen is then dipped in an inkwell until the nib and part of the barrel are submerged in the ink. Then the rotary knob of the converter is turned until the ink has been absorbed.
